Good textbook for beginners

This is a student-friendly book on computer studies for beginners. The book covers the basic concepts needed to build a solid foundation for more advanced studies in information communications technology. The author gently introduces the student to various topics and reinforces his message with numerous illustrations and exercises. The language used is simple and straightforward enabling the student with a basic understanding of English to follow and grasp the concepts.
Stephen Doyle did a good job of using numerous examples which the student should find useful, helpful and handy in enhancing comprehension of the subject. However, the book can do with some updates and revision to take into account various changes that has taken place in this field since the book was first published in 1985.
