About the Author
Bear Grylls is an adventurer, writer and TV presenter. During three years with the British Special Forces he survived a horrendous parachuting accident in southern Africa, breaking his back in three places. Three years later he overcame the odds to become one of the youngest British climbers ever to reach the summit of Mount Everest. He is now one of the most successful motivational speakers on the world circuit. He is the author of many books including Facing Up, Facing the Frozen Ocean, Mud, Sweat and Tears and True Grit.

A delightful read-highly recommended

Beautifully written, exciting and a great couple of adventures. I enjoyed reading it slowly as I almost didn't want to finish the book as I enjoyed it so much. Bear is modest, humorous, courageous, philosophical, and a seemingly great guy whom I would love to join one day if ever the opportunity would arise on another of his adventures! A great book.

I thoroughly enjoyed both these adventure stories - truly gripping in parts, I couldn't put the book down. It's given me a very good insight into what goes into the preparation of an attempt to scale Mt Everest, and how the experience can drain everything out of you, and at the same time test your endurance to the absolute limit.
